Eastern Odyssey Pre-Registration

Eastern Odyssey is a brand new absolutely gorgeous Wuxia/Xianxia styled Waifu-collector RPG. Hot off the success of their first Closed Beta back in December 2022, the studio have confirmed they are currently in the process of recruiting for their second Beta test at a yet undisclosed time.

Judging from the very limited amount of gameplay present online, Eastern Odyssey is an aesthetically stunning Gacha game that takes inspiration from popular Wuxia/Xianxia – a very unique Chinese theme.
Players will recruit a number of Husbando’s/Waifu’s, and deploy them in battle across a small, horizontal field. It seems as though characters auto-attack enemies, out of the control of the player, however, like most idle-games of its kind, you might possess the ability to select your abilities. Providing you a slight bit of interaction and engagement.

The studio are at present holding pre-registration for their second Closed Beta, with 12,000 pre-registered players already signed up and ready to play. They have not outlined a definitive date for the next Beta test, nor have they confirmed a release date but it seems as though 2023 wouldn’t be an unsafe bet.

Project STAR: The Counter:Side Sequel?

Whenever I report on monthly financials, there’s always one or two of you that leave a comment like “Where is Counter:Side?” – And as much as I enjoyed the gameplay in Counter:Side, the game just didn’t appeal the market at large.
StudioBSide, the developer responsible for Counter:Side are aware of this, and have since announced a brand new game they’ve had in the works: Project STAR.
And the best part of all of this? It’s connected to Counter:Side, much like how HoYo are attempting to interconnect their Honkai games, or how Hypergryph are interconnecting Arknights with Endfield.

Project STAR was announced – or – teased might be the more applicable term here, during a showcase of updates – an entire roadmap planned for Counter:Side, detailing the game’s future.
And while I’m not actively playing Counter:Side, I’m glad it’s still actively receiving updates. After they were done with their roadmap presentation, came the reveal nobody was expecting: Project STAR.

Project STAR and Counter:Side, as noted, share a connected world, but are at the same time completely disconnected from one another. Which admittedly sounds very confusing.
There are characters shared amongst games – like Maria Antonov’s awakened silhouette, which I’m sure you guys immediately recognized during the trailer. But they’re set in different time periods, and also feature entirely different settings.
Counter:Side is set in a kind of post-apocalyptic, dystopian future, where Project STAR is a purely fantasy-based game like Genshin or Epic Seven.
Unfortunately not a whole lot else was revealed. It’s going to be a traditional fantasy-RPG, will feature a bounty-board system supposedly. I’m going to assume a type of horizontal combat – where characters move horizontally across the screen, kinda like Eversoul.
The animation shown during the trailer though was gorgeous, and I honestly hope the characters in-game are presented in 3D as opposed to chibi, but either way, I cannot wait to see full gameplay when they progress far enough through the development process that they reveal it.

This was an exciting, albeit unexpected reveal. This could be a quality game release – as Counter:Side was actually a pretty solid title. And it isn’t the typical Chinese churn ‘n burn, thus it holds a semblance of potential.

The Best Gacha Games of 2022

Finding a new Gacha game capable of rivaling the titans that already dominate the industry like Genshin, Azur Lane, Arknights, Punishing Gray Raven.. is admittedly very difficult.
We approach every new release like we do every Gacha pull: With eager anticipation that we’ll get something new, something rare, and something worthwhile. And for the most part, we end up ultimately disappointed.
This is due to a multitude of reasons, but none more evident than the single fact that most developers just lack the creative talent to really captivate us.
Which is where this video comes in. I’ve played over 50 Gacha games this year alone, many for my “Worst Gacha Ever,” and I want to discuss what I believe the 10 best Gacha games are, in no particular order. Your opinion might differ, but these games have left a lasting impression on me due to the quality of their narrative, their gameplay, their voice acting or their generosity.
These are the best Gacha games of 2022. Games you can pick up and play immediately.

Path to Nowhere

I’m gonna start this off with a new release. It’s rare for new releases to truly excel – we’ve had quite a few this year: Artery Gear Fusion, CounterSide, Tower of Fantasy, that all look great but ultimately end up underwhelming.
That was not the case with Path to Nowhere. Initially considered to be an “ugly Arknights clone,” this game has proven time and time again over the last month that this game is so much more than a simple clone.
It has some of the best voice acting in a Gacha game I’ve seen up until this point, has a dark narrative with a lot of depth, interesting characters, decent Gacha, but most importantly? It gets very difficult.
This is a tactical RPG, so it has a very large focus on which units you deploy, how they interact with one another – and the stage itself, their respective strengths and weaknesses. Forethought is required, and that makes for a game that doesn’t allow you to just auto your way through it.
This is easily the best release this year based purely off of the cumulative total of all of its features.

Azur Lane

Azur Lane really needs no introduction. When you google “hot Gacha Waifu’s,” the first several pages are literally all just Azur Lane characters. This game has garnered a reputation as “the cultured Waifu Gacha,” due to how they manage to walk the line between PG13 and 18+.
Admittedly, I didn’t think Azur Lane really had an exceptional storyline. I see some of you raising pitchforks into the air – relax. The story isn’t bad, I just feel as though they had less of a focus on it and instead opted to focus on other aspects.
This game is a shoot ’em up style game, where you deploy a unit of Waifu.. ships, yes, ships, that engage other.. Waifu.. ships in battle. And while the gameplay loop is fairly basic – your Waifu’s move horizontally while trying to sink the enemy battleships, the game gets progressively more difficult the more you play.
Azur Lane has one of the most fair Gacha systems, including the ability to upgrade your units. I spent a couple months playing the game and had no issue limit breaking my Waifu’s, increasing their potential, and upgrading their gear without paying a cent.
You don’t expect games to actually allow you to acquire everything for free.. but Azur Lane kinda does, and it’s a refreshing change of pace.

Blue Archive

Blue Archive is a little more tricky to label as a game. It’s an RPG at its core, but its cast of Waifu’s are also all school students. So fans are often labeled in a certain.. way, that we’ll just kinda.. pretend is normal. hah.
Blue Archive has a more interesting type of gameplay to me. You can auto your way through the game, but having tried, even being tens of levels and having my gear upgraded significantly above the requirements of each stage, I found the auto-mode to be horrendous.
My characters would just run into AoEs, stand out in the open taking damage and just die, resulting in failure to 100% the mission. Thus, for the most part, you’re required to actively control your units, moving them around, utilizing their abilities at an ideal, opportune time.
And while I found the gameplay to be a little difficult at times, I thoroughly enjoyed it. As I did most the game. The Waifu’s look great in-game, animations looked fantastic, but I know one point of contention within the community is its horrible chibi graphics.
I’m not overly fond of them either, but I’m also not going to dislike a game purely based off of that.

Neural Cloud

Neural Cloud is the newest release included in this video, and actually took a lot of players by surprise. Much like Path to Nowhere, Neural Cloud is a tactical RPG. But it provides players a very different selection of mechanics, making the overall game feel distinctly different.
This game isn’t dark, and also lacks the same deep narrative as Path to Nowhere, but where it excels is its gameplay. Being able to control the flow of battle, use abilities that have a direct impact on allied and enemy units – like the ability to sweep them up in a tornado – making them immune to damage, or teleporting units around the field.
Every mission is a sequence of battles, split between trading posts, upgrade stations and rest stops. These allow you to customize your units – increasing their damage, their leech, their healing output. Neural Cloud is a game pretty much exclusively about its gameplay.
You’re going to be spending 99% of your time engaging in combat, or navigating the menus outside of the combat, preparing for combat. You don’t find many games like that – and those that do, often aren’t as complex and rewarding as Neural Cloud is.

Genshin Impact

Love or hate Genshin Impact, there’s no contesting the fact that this is easily one of the highest quality Gacha games on any platform, and more than that, the most beautiful, best playing open-world game on the entire mobile platform.
The story is good, getting progressively better with each major patch. Like, let’s be real. All of 1.x is pretty basic, but beginning 2.x the game really found its footing, and from what I’ve heard of 3.x, the game has really become something extraordinary.
Unlike.. pretty much every other Gacha available, Genshin Impact is a fully open-world RPG. You can see something in the distance? You can reach it. Climb it. And fight the monsters that’ll be scattered around it. That level of freedom isn’t found in ANY other Gacha game. Tower of Fantasy tried, but its world is just so much smaller in scale.
The voice acting is very good – in every language. Really aiding the game in captivating you and keeping you enthralled in the story playing out. Gameplay might be a little simpler than other action games like Punishing Gray Raven, but is in no way a hindrance, inhibiting your ability to pull off some crazy attacks.
Granted, there’s no real endgame so often you feel like you’re just repeating the same content while waiting for a new patch to drop.. but that’s why you never play a single Gacha exclusively, right?

Arknights

Arknights is by far my favorite Gacha game. It helped me with my Fire Emblem obsession, and is the one single Gacha game I have not missed logging into since I started playing it earlier this year.
Everything about this game screams quality for a tactical RPG. The narrative is absolutely fantastic – and continues to be one of the few stories I manage to follow. The characters are gorgeous – both males and females, and don’t seem hyper-sexualized.
Gameplay is very difficult. So difficult that I often watch Eckogen for guides on how to complete the final stage of every new event. I like to think I’m good at strategy or tower defense games but evidently I’m not.
Every character has their own unique abilities, with quite a sizeable number of effects and functionality implemented. We have tanks, support, healers, DPS in the form of archers, mages, a hybrid of both, CCers, summoners, hybrid healer-summoners, hybrid tank healers. The combinations are limitless, and continue to be expanded upon.
And don’t even get me started on the events. They somehow continue to outdo themselves repeatedly. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a diverse selection of events in any other Gacha game. When you look up the definition of “high quality Gacha games” on Google, there should be a picture of Arknights. Nothing more.

Refantasia

I know if given the opportunity, 110% of you would totally marry and.. y’know, engage in certain.. after hours activities with your Waifu’s. You’re all a bunch of degenerates after all, it kinda comes with the territory.
But Refantasia actually allows you to do this. You recruit Waifu’s – in all shapes and sizes. Like, some have tentacles. Some have 8 legs, or 8… uhh, well, other.. parts of their body.
The gameplay in Refantasia is actually incredibly basic, and you can pay to skip the combat all together. Which I did, because it honestly left me bored to tears. But the majority of the game took the form of a dating sim.
You’d raise affinity with your Waifu’s, you’d take them on dates, you’d have children with them, raise the children, marry them off to other kingdoms, securing alliances with them, continue to expand your harem, and rinse and repeat.
I never thought I’d ever include a dating sim in a list of “best games” of any type, but here we are. This game is just so absurd that I couldn’t drop it for 2 weeks.

NIKKE

Speaking of not dropping a game for several weeks, that was the case with NIKKE as well.
NIKKE tries to, and succeeds on multiple occasions to be one of the most perverse Gacha games I’ve played this year. But it handles it in a… well, more.. sophisticated way. And I know what you’re thinking. “Really, Stix? Sophisticated? You rammed your head into Anis’ rear and Rapunzel blew you while you were sleeping!”
.. to which I have nothing to defend myself with other than “they know their audience,” haha. NIKKE has set itself apart from other Gacha games by not only targeting a specific demographic of players, but by also providing a fantastic narrative that continues to get progressively more messed up the more you play through it.
It also has some of the best voice acting in the Gacha genre – tied with Path to Nowhere. Fantastic gameplay that is honestly too difficult at times, but if you tackle it casually like I do you shouldn’t run into too many problems.
It has had its fair share of issues recently with censorship, Tencent being Tencent, and… well, you can Google the problems if you’re really curious. But at its core? This is a fantastic game that is honestly a LOT of fun to play.

Soul Tide

Rarely am I left with the impression that a Gacha game is pure art, but that is how I felt after having played Soul Tide. I’m gonna be honest – this game doesn’t truly excel in anything. It has an okay narrative. It utilizes turn-based combat.
Chapters consist of several missions, and missions consist of a selection of puzzles that you’re required to navigate. Sometimes consisting of a sequence of battles, other times they have you find items, artifacts, have you solve memory puzzles, RNG puzzles.
Honestly it’s a weird little game, but it left me continuing to push through stage after stage because I was curious what would happen next. This is a type of Gacha game I don’t often see – or, haven’t seen outside of Soul Tide, really. So it left me with a sense of curiosity.
The game felt like I was playing an interactive painting. It was beautiful. That’s really all I can say about it. You have to play it to fully grasp what I mean.

Punishing Gray Raven

Punishing Gray Raven is the uncontested king of action Gacha games. There is just no other Gacha game with combat as fluid or rewarding as the combat that is present within this game. And that’s it. That’s really all you need to say about Punishing Gray Raven.
You could realistically just end this segment there, and I’m sure a lot of you would immediately go and download the game, and trust me, you’d enjoy it because it’s just that good. But thankfully so much more is offered to players.
There is a narrative worth investing yourself in. Not of the same caliber as Path to Nowhere, Arknights or NIKKE, but far above average. The game is absolutely stunning, featuring some of the most stunning 3D character models you’ll find anywhere. A variety of different game modes, including multiplayer functionality, and cross-platform functionality.
But its selling point is how incredible the gameplay is. Every character feels so different to one another, which really leaves you feeling like the investment into obtaining them is worth it. They’re not reused assets, character models, fighting styles.
And the Gacha? Is one of the best in the genre. Obtaining characters is incredibly easy, and you’re actually rewarded for actively investing time and effort into the game.

And that’s it – what I believe are the 10 best Gacha games in 2022. We’re about to start a brand new year, with a lot of new upcoming Gacha games on the horizon.

What is Arknights: Endfield?

I’ve been playing a LOT of Arknights. I play it every single day, for anywhere from 10 minutes – to just run through my daily stamina exhaustion, to hours, if a new event releases and the stages are complex or difficult.
This is – to me – one of the greatest Gacha games on the market right now. There isn’t a tower defense or strategy game out there that I think compares to Arknights. Which is why I’m so excited for Arknights: Endfield, Endfield is the spiritual successor to Arknights – but taking it in an entirely new direction.
Where Arknights is a strategy game that takes place within small, instanced grids – Arknights Endfield is going to be set in a large, open world, feature real-time combat, and fully 3D graphics as opposed to the smaller, sprite-style aesthetic it currently utilizes.

Now I know a lot of you guys are sitting there scratching your heads wondering exactly what kind of game this is. I’ve received DMs asking me – “Stix, is Arknights Endfield an MMO?” “Is there character creation?” “Is it a Gacha game like Genshin?”
And that’s what we’re here today to discuss. What exactly is Arknights Endfield? And should you be excited?

What is Arknights: Endfield?

So what is Arknights: Endfield? Hypergryph revealed that Endfield is going to be a fully 3D real-time RPG. It will be set in a large, open world with lots of varied environments to explore.
Neither a sequel nor a prequel, Endfield is going to be set in the same world as its predecessor, Arknights, featuring its own distinct stories, and characters. Now if I recall – Arknights is set on Terra. Endfield is going to be set on Talos-II, a name I’m sure a lot of you immediately recognize.
Talos-II is largely unexplored, and very dangerous. Meaning that players will be responsible for surveying and exploring the world with Endfield Industries operators as we attempt to uncover the mysteries hidden away on the planet.

Does Arknights: Endfield Have a Narrative?

Yes, yes it will. If you’ve played Arknights, you’d know that the devs are actually quite adept at crafting a good story. That’s something you can’t say for the majority of Gacha games. Most games built for the mobile platform feature honestly.. quite pathetic stories that most of us skip.
There are few exceptions to this. As Hypergryph noted, it’ll be our duty to uncover the mysteries of Talos-II. From what little information we’ve been given, it looks as though we’ll continue unlocking new Chapters – each more challenging than the last as we continue to play through the game and explore the world at large.
The world and subsequently the narrative will also feature additional factions – some good, some bad, that will have a direct affect on the outcome of your story.

Is Arknights: Endfield an MMO?

No, unfortunately, as much as I would honestly love to see an Arknights MMO, this is not it.
In Arknights: Endfield, players are capable of deploying several different characters – with direct control over each character. Having other players occupy the same world as you would likely be incredibly difficult, which is why I’m assuming the devs have yet to confirm whether there will be any kind of multiplayer functionality present.
I honestly hope for some – I would love to explore Talos-II with my wife Mrs Stix, with each of us possibly controlling half the team each. Cooperative multiplayer games are incredibly enjoyable, and this is a gargantuan missed opportunity if they don’t take advantage of it.

Does Arknights: Endfield Have Character Creation?

Given this is going to be an Anime RPG as opposed to an MMO, it’s unlikely we’re going to be able to customize our character.
Like in Arknights, we’ll likely play as a faceless commander of types, sending our Waifu’s and Husbando’s out on missions. But, hey. Nothing is set in stone right now. Who knows – maybe we’ll be able to create our own custom character. We’ll need to wait and see. It’s just highly unlikely.

Does Arknights: Endfield Have Action Combat?

Hypergryph describes their combat as such: “Arknights: Endfield is currently in the early stages of development, and much of the contents have yet to be finalized. With regards to the combat, players will encounter epic experiences, featuring real-time combat with various tactics.”
Real-time combat does not necessarily equate to action combat. It merely means the combat will operate in real-time as opposed to turn-based. This means the combat could be action-oriented like Wuthering Waves or Genshin Impact. Or, it could take on a strategic style like in StarCraft.

Is Arknights: Endfield Launching on PC?

Yes! Arknights: Endfield is confirmed to be in active development for PC, Android and iOS devices. This is going to be a completely cross-platform compatible game. Meaning you can play it on PC, or on your phone.
They haven’t elaborated on whether they’re going to take a Genshin or Tower of Fantasy approach, however. And by that I mean, whether they’ll follow Genshin’s formula and develop the game for each platform in mind, or if they’ll follow the Tower of Fantasy formula and develop the game for mobile, and port it on over to PC at a later date.
I’m hoping for the former, because it is going to have to compete with Wuthering Waves, which is shaping up to be one of the best looking upcoming Gacha on the horizon.

Is Arknights: Endfield Releasing Globally?

Arknights: Endfield is going to be releasing Globally. There’s absolutely no questioning that. Hypergryph are already looking to localize the game into English, and they’re only in the early stages of development.
It’s unconfirmed if the game will have a simultaneous release around the world, or if a Western launch will come after its Eastern release.

Is Arknights: Endfield Holding a Closed Beta?

Unfortunately, the devs are not nearly far enough through the development process to release a playable Beta. Not in 2022, anyway. They will definitely be holding various test phases ahead of the game launching – which I honestly hope to get into.
But those test phases will be available in 2023 at the earliest. Keep an eye on the channel though – as I post videos whenever games I’m anticipating are playable!

Does Arknights: Endfield Have a Confirmed Release Date?

Arknights: Endfield does not have a confirmed release date at present. 2022 would be expecting a little much I believe, but hey, I don’t think 2023 is entirely out of the question. They could be much further through development than when they last made an announcement several months ago.
It would be safer to assume a release date of 2023, at the earliest, though.

Is Arknights: Endfield a Gacha Game?

And finally, yes, this is going to be a Gacha game. I know that isn’t something everyone is interested in, and that’s more than fine. But at the end of the day, if you don’t like it, you can just not play it.
Given the track record for Arknights though, how fair the game is and how successful it has been up to this point, I can say with certainty that this is going to be big. Very, very big. This could be one of the biggest open-world RPGs of 2023.
Its only competition is Wuthering Waves.

The 10 Most Popular Gacha Games of July 2022

It’s that time of the month again! Sensortower statistics are in for the Gacha scene over the last month, and we get to see how our favorite, or least favorite games are doing in terms of players and earnings. So grab the popcorn.

Genshin Impact has taken back its spot of the #1 most downloaded, highest grossing Gacha game with $107 million dollars earned, and 3.9 million total downloads including both China and the Global release. For reference, that was an increase of over 50% from last month.
The Global Diablo Immortal release of the game – disregarding its Chinesse release due to drama, came in at #2 and has since accumulated 14 million total downloads and $38 million dollars. Which is impressive for a brand new game.
Interestingly enough, Fate/Grand Order has dethroned Uma Musume, at #3, amassing 270,000 total downloads and $37 million dollars between the Global and Japanese releases. Quite the impressive feat given that is several times larger than last month’s.
Uma Musume comes in at #4 this month, with 80,000 new downloads and $30 million dollars in earnings within Japan exclusively.
Project Sekai comes in at #5 with 780,000 downloads and $17.2 million dollars between the Global and Japanese versions. Surprisingly, as Heaven Burns Red held this position last month.
Oh, speaking of, Heaven Burns Red comes in at #6 with 40,000 downloads and $12 million dollars, as a Japanese exclusive.
Azur Lane came in at #7 with 125,000 downloads and $6.5 million dollars. Including both the Global and Japanese versions of the game.
Blue Archive comes in at #8 with 150,000 new downloads and $5.5 million dollars, including the Global and Japanese versions of the game.
iDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS came in at #9, totaling 11,000 downloads and $5 million dollars. This is also a Japanese exclusive, like several other games in this list. Which really goes to show the popularity Gacha have in Japan.
Princess Connect came in at #10 with 41,000 downloads and $4.6 million dollars. This is including the Global and Japanese incarnations of the game.
SINoALICE interestingly enough comes in at #11. Accruing 20,000 downloads and $3.2 million dollars between both the Global and Japanese versions of the game. Yeah, I bet you didn’t see that coming. And neither did I.
iDOLM@STER Million Live comes in at #12, with 10,000 new downloads and $3 million dollars accumulated within Japan alone.
At #13 is Arknights, with 90,000 new downloads and $2.7 million dollars between both Japan and the Global iteration.
At #14 is Guardian Tales, with 110,000 downloads and $2.5 million dollars earned between both the Global and Japanese versions of the game.
And finally, Shironeko comes in at #15, with 13,000 new downloads and $2.4 million dollars earned within Japan exclusively.
Yes, games like Honkai Impact, CounterSide, Punishing Gray Raven, Artery Gear all failed to reach the top 15 most played or highest earning Gacha games this month. Disappointingly.

DarkBind, a New Action MMORPG Has Entered Closed Beta Testing

Earlier this month, NetEase announced they had a brand new MMO in development, set to launch in both North America and Japan simultaneously. They noted that there was a Closed Beta scheduled… that actually began at the time of the announcement, catching everyone completely off guard.

If we navigate on over to their official website, it turns out the game is currently in Early Access. NetEase claim that “DarkBind is an Action MMORPG that features a thrilling combat system set in a dark, magical world.” Supposedly, the game has been designed with overseas players in mind with respect to themes, operations, character development and PvP as opposed to focusing on what their region of players prefer.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to think of this, until I saw that it was a mobile-exclusive title. Although it lists it as having absolutely no auto-mechanics in it whatsoever, so it might be worth checking out purely to gauge what they perceive Western players want from an MMO.

I didn’t apply to the Beta test because I have my hands full, but it – from the trailer footage, closely resembled a certain other immensely popular RPG released recently.

Project Snow is an Upcoming Anime Third Person Shooter RPG

If you don’t like Anime MMORPGs – Anime games in general.. then this probably isn’t going to appeal to you. But, if you’re a fan of beautiful animation, deep, thought provoking narratives, and uh… well, more cultured content, then please, stick around for a few minutes.

So I figured now was the perfect time to do a cover a new upcoming Anime RPG – one that genuinely looks like it has potential: “Project Snow.”
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, players take on the role of a member of the Heimdall Force, an elite unit tasked with saving mankind from “Titans,” monstrous creatures that have been terrorizing the world for the last several years.

With the setting laid out.. let’s go ahead and take a look at the trailer for the game. To get a gauge for it and discuss what we saw.

Alright, so I’m not typically a fan of third person action shooters when it comes to my Anime games. But I feel like… that still looked pretty sick. Character movements seemed very slick, very fluid.
Special effects for abilities looked great – and the waifu material… well, I think we can all agree that regardless of what you think of the game, the waifu’s were top-tier. As were the angles they utilized to capture footage.
The game kind of reminded me a lot of SoulWorker. It has a similar setting in terms of story: You’re an elite member of a military force set out to save the world from an evil force that has driven mankind to the brink of extinction.
There are lots of cute girls. Yup, they seem pretty much the same to me.

A Closed Beta test was just held recently, and while I didn’t get in myself, I do have a link on where to pre-register on our website for those of you interested in potentially getting into the next test phase.
There is no confirmed release date within its country of origin right now, and as such there is definitely no release date scheduled for outside – over here in the West.
While this definitely looks like it could be a lotta fun, I do want to approach this with a level of caution, as it is a Chinese Anime game. They don’t have the greatest track records with regards to high quality titles.

Nevertheless, the action combat, the atmosphere of the game, the aesthetic look and feel are all seemingly high quality. So I guess we’ll have to wait and see how the game ultimately turns out.

Awakening Automata is a Brand New Upcoming Anime RPG

Do you like Anime waifus? ’cause I like Anime waifus.

Actually, you know what? That’s a stupid question, as who am I kidding. Of course you guys like Anime waifus. Who DOESN’T like Anime waifus? Or even Anime husbandos?
Now I know plenty of you still love both Honkai and Genshin Impact. They’re kinda.. staples of the cross-platform Anime gaming genre at this point, right?
Not only do they both look great, have plenty of lore, strong narratives, but also provide players some fantastic combat, intriguing worlds to explore and.. well. The waifus. I mean, come on. Look at them.

So I’ve been following this since it was announced last year, and I just realized there’s brand new footage for the game available.
Not only can we get a look at the game for literally the first time, but we’ll then possess a means with which to discuss what we saw.

A beta test was held for the game earlier this year in April. I’m not sure how extensive this test phase was, as I didn’t get to participate in it. Nevertheless, from what I’ve read from the official synopsis, Awakening Automata is a Japanese 3D action Anime title.
It features a narrative that takes place in the future, where Humanity receives data from Jupiter concerning a prehistoric civilization and the acquisition of the “automata technology.”
The player, us, get to take on the role of a “coordinator,” a special type of human being that possess the unique ability to adapt and control Automata. You’ll take control of these dolls and lead them back to Earth to retake it.

Or.. knowing you guys, do weird things with them. Yes, I know you. I see the types of things you guys retweet. The types of images you search Google images for. Or Gelbooru.

As far as I can tell from the last beta test, the game features fast action combat and plays much like Dungeon Fighter Online or Closers Online, utilizing a horizontal movement system across the field.
Outside of what little players got to participate in during the beta test, not much more is known.

Awakening Automata Release Date?

We don’t have a confirmed release date yet, but it is expected sometime during 2022 at the earliest.
The game hasn’t been confirmed for a global release yet, but given this is a Japanese game, it would be a missed opportunity if they opt to disregard us Western players.

Regardless…. this game legitimately looks sick. And I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Seven Knights 2 Global Pre-Registration

Netmarble, the developers behind the upcoming Seven Knights 2 Mobile MMORPG just announced that they have opened pre-registration for both the iOS and Google Play Store.

While they have yet to officially reveal the launch date, they did note that it will be available in November – yes, next month. If you want to pre-register for those juicy rewards, I urge you to choose your platform below.

I’m genuinely surprised that they’re opting to release Seven Knights 2 at the same time as both Lineage 2M and Lineage W, as they’re 2 competing MMORPGs releasing within the month of November.
