Albion Online Reportedly Reaching New Concurrency Records

Two years ago, Albion Online released their mobile port of the game – which saw player numbers for the game propel themselves to 271,000 active players daily.
Meaning there were potentially half a million, maybe a million players logging in and playing the game across PC and mobile platforms.

While concurrency and active players have continued to decline to an extent over the last 2 years – this happens to every MMO and isn’t a sign of a deteriorating or dying game, with the recent launch of their new server, titled Albion East, Albion Online has reported that the game has set even larger records, with 277,000 total active players playing the first day alone, and 2 weeks later, breaking over 300,000 active players.
These are absolutely monstrous numbers, and I gotta give it to ’em, when I played this game years ago, I never anticipated it would achieve concurrency records that could make it the most played free MMO on the entire market.

Albion Online Review - Is It Worth Playing?

Ah, Albion. I remember growing up in Oakvale, playing with the other kids, helping the villagers out, and.. watching.. my entire family, along with every friend I had get brutally murdered right in front of me.
Oops, wrong Albion.
Phew, we really dodged a bullet- or should we say.. we dodged an arrow, there, eh? Ehh? .. Too soon?

Albion Online is a medieval fantasy MMORPG that has a large, very large, ridiculously large emphasis on crafting. In the first hour alone I had spent a solid hour going from NPC to NPC collecting materials to craft new equipment.
Which isn’t a problem – I’m just not used to crafting being such a focal point of MMORPGs. Especially at the beginning of the game.

Character creation is fairly limiting – being stuck choosing between white guy, black guy, white girl, black girl, and.. a couple differnt hairstyles, beard styles and colors.

One thing of note was that I began my journey with my wife, Avriee, who spawned on the other side of the world to me.
We had the exact same quests, we just couldn’t play with each other due to spawning at such large distances. This was a little upsetting as we had wanted to play together, but.. ooo, bunnies!

Now, back to crafting for a second.. equipping new gear, or weapons, specifically, in this example, gave me access to new skills associated with that particular piece of equipment.
That was.. kinda cool, and was a little reminiscent of Guild Wars 2.
Unfortunately, as my newbie Warrior self, I had only the most basic of skills.. slightly more forceful stab.
This made it a little difficult for me to engage other players in 1v1 combat – which happened on more than one occasion, actually. I feel like people could just.. smell the newbie on me and target me because of it.

As I pointed out, we started off in different zones, and.. my lord the world map is absolutely massive.
I cannot begin to comprehend how long that would take to navigate on foot considering it took me 10 minutes to get from one side of the newbie area to the other.

There’s just something about Albion’s low poly graphical style that really resonates with me. I’m a huge fan of the style and being able to play through an MMO that looks as beautiful as Albion does is quite a treat for me.
It also helps detract from all the material farming you need to do.. which.. is.. so.. damn.. much.
Collect this log, collect that log.. Yes, I get it. I should’ve pursued the lumberjack career as my profession as opposed to Warrior. I’d probably make a killing off of it.

The combat in-game is fairly basic. You.. almost die, every encounter. Or at least I do. Which could be because I took a wrong turn somewhere and still have newbie gear on, I don’t know.
It just seems as though everything I attack, or everything that attacks me pre-emptively destroyed me.. that is, until I upgraded further.
*Ahem*
But, I digress. The combat itself is tab-target, meaning you need to select your target before you can unload onto them. Umff, that sounded wrong.
As you can see though, gear, like most MMOs, plays a large part in how difficult an encounter is. Where I was knocking on death’s door every encounter prior, I’m now a wrecking machine of raw, unadulterated power.

After making enough progress through the game and learning a little more about it, I managed to obtain my first mount! Finally, a faster mode of travel with which to make it to my wife..
Alas, the distance between us was far too large, even with mounts. So we opted to just play along until it became possible to play together.

That never happened.

I didn’t play long enough to participate in PvP outside of 1v1 duels but from what I read there is quite an extensive full-loot PvP system in place that allows players to engage one another in open-zone skirmishes, being able to loot your body upon death.
Granted, that only applies to “red-zones” – zones being divided between various colors and difficulties, such as green, yellow and red.
While I’ve never been a fan of full-loot PvP, I do see how it can make a game far more interesting by upping the risks and rewards.

Now yes, I didn’t spend as much time as I would have liked in-game, only a couple hours, but from what I did spend I enjoyed.
I’m not normally a fan of crafting but basing a lot of the game around crafting, farming materials to craft, and attempting to survive open-PvP zones can be quite thrilling.
If these are things that don’t interest you though, then you’d probably best avoid the game as it seems to be a PvP focused crafting MMORPG with less PvE than most traditional alternatives.

Greetings and salutations my lovely little Bytelings my name is Wiggy and
today I’ll be talking talking about Albion Online!

By now you’ve probably guessed that Albion Online has launched already, do to the title, and or thumbnail, thus the reason you clicked.
So yeah Albion has officially launched for everyone, no matter which pack they bought, even if you buy it today, it’s
completely playable! Which is awesome, as we’ll finally get the chance to see how it actually plays!

Now if you’re completely out of the MMORPG loop and are generally unaware of what Albion Online actually is, here’s a quick summary to
save you time having to google around. Firstly it’s not normal average MMORPG as it’s cross platform. so while you can play it on your phone/tablet, you can also play on your PC. It’s also a sandbox MMORPG, which means you can pretty much do anything you want whenever you want, whether that’s becoming a blacksmith, farmer, mercenary, or just generally derp around the game world.

It has a completely player driven economy, which you know could potentially be amazing, but it depends on who you ask. No classes, as depending on the weapon and armor you wear chooses your playstyle. So you could be a robe wearing greatsword wielding badass, or a heavy plated archer that’s not so nimble.

Albion Online is absolutely full of interesting features, it’s definitely worth trying out, if you’re interesting in a western MMORPG, with a player driven economy, classless system, crafting galore, and nice farming simulator.

I am personally looking forward to trying out this MMORPG, as I’ve been looking forward to it for a little while.
Now before I end this video I would like to ask, have you guys tried it out yet? and if so, how’re you liking it?

Anyway guys thank you for watching, and as always, good day, night or afternoon wherever it is where you are and I’ll see you guys in the next video!

Greetings and salutations my lovely little Bytelings, my name is Wiggy, and today, I’ve got good news regarding Albion Online!

So, by now, you’ve no doubt heard about Albion Online, as there’s quite a lot of buzz surrounding it. But, like always, I’ll go over generally what the game
is about. For those of you unaware.

Albion Online is a sandbox MMORPG, with a completely, full player-driven economy. However, because it’s a player driven, all the gear found, and or bought,
are actually crafted by other players. While this is differently a bold step, this isn’t the only unique feature Albion Online has to offer, for instance
there are no classes. Granted this isn’t the first MMORPG to boast not requiring classes, it definitely takes this feature in a new direction, as your archetype is
determined by the gear types you equip, and your weapons.

Besides this, there is farming, where you’ll farm crops, look after your animals, and sell your produce.
If farmings not for you, that you can become a master smith, or just a general crafter, and transport you cargo to other cities and trade them for coin.
Then there’s Player housing, which is pretty self explanatory, however decorating your house in Albion Online isn’t just to make it look pretty. Furniture,
gives you bonuses to your characters stats.

Now this is a very basic summery of the features found within Albion Online. If you’d like a more in-depth video, go ahead and let me know, however for this video
at least, it’s aimed and being short informative and, to the point.

Onto the good news! Albion Online is officially launching on July the 19th of 2017. However for those of you who purchased Albion Online’s Legendary Founder Pack;
which, by the way, all founder packs will no longer be available for purchase after the 9th of July, will be able to enter the game at the 17 of July, ahead of everyone else.
Or for those of you who bought the Epic Founders Pack, you’ll be able to enter the game on the 18th. For those of you who didn’t purchase these packs, can enter at the 19th as
a stated a minute ago.

So for all of you guys waiting for Albion Online, rejoice for it’s only a mere 12-14 days away! Let’s hope it lives up to the hype!

Either way guys, I hope you found this helpful or at least informative. So good day, night or afternoon wherever it is where
you are, and I’ll see you guys in the next video!
