Twilight Spirits is an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS MMORPG You'll Likely Never Play

I was recording footage for Twilight Spirits – an MMORPG released onto Steam a little while ago and the environments, the characters, everything, while yes, very Asian-inspired, looked absolutely incredible.
Just take a few moments here and admire some of these areas you’ll find throughout the game – of which I only scratched the surface.
I’ve been meaning to do a video on this for a long time now. This is an Action MMO that I had been eagerly anticipating but never got the opportunity to cover as unfortunately, the game only ever released within China, much like Moonlight Blade and Justice Online, which I’ll actually be doing videos on soon.
Interestingly, to play Twilight Spirits you don’t require a VPN – it’s publicly accessible via Steam, meaning you set it to download and just play it.

If it wasn’t already evident, Twilight Spirits is an Action MMO. It features very fast, fluid action combat – not as smooth as something like Black Desert which was noticeable shortly after I began to play but still a step higher than most of the other action titles on the market.
You have a variety of different abilities, but at the same time have a very limited hotbar, providing you access to a grand total of 5 normal skills, one “Q” skill and one “E” skill. Unless the “E” key was for potions… I guess since I never really needed to heal in the time I played, it wasn’t a necessity to find out.
Speaking of healing and the combat, I will note that since this is a Chinese MMO, the discrepancy between my input and the server receiving my input was pretty large.
I’d dodge and have it registered a second or more after clicking it which made the need to almost preemptively dodge when you thought bosses were going to time a large ability almost a requirement.
Which was fine, I didn’t expect an MMO that was only available in China to have the greatest ping, but I will note that I never had latency issues in Moonlight Blade or Monster Hunter Online.

I did note that I fought against various different bosses – so allow me to elaborate a little more on that.
If you hadn’t guessed it, Twilight Spirits is a hub-based MMO. It functions just like Phantasy Star Online 2, Soul Worker Online, Kritika: REBOOT, Dragon Nest. Although from what I could tell there are a substantial amount of varied towns you could navigate between.
I moved through 4 different areas within the first 20 levels of the game, and every town was filled with NPCs, quests and some of the most beautiful vistas I’d seen in a game of this type.
There are players that occupy the towns – or there should be, but from what I could tell nobody was in the lower level areas. That could be due to the fact that Twilight Spirits actually wasn’t received all too well. For Westerners, anyway, if Steam is anything to go off of.
I’m sure Chinese players were more than happy with it as Western players complained about the language the game was released in as opposed to the game itself. As a hub-MMO, you run around the various towns, taking quests from NPCs and running dungeons.
Either alone or with a group of players. Not only are there dungeons, but there are larger-scale raids just like you’d find in PSO2 and several different PvP game modes.

There were 7 different classes to choose from as of recording in September 2020. Each class is gender locked, much as you would expect out of a non-Japanese Eastern MMO.
They do seem to love gender-locking their classes don’t they?
The class names were in Chinese so I didn’t bother to go about translating them, but the characters I was most interested in were the mage and the assassin. I opted to go with the assassin, because.. well, I mean, why wouldn’t I? She just had more to.. offer, I guess?
Each class has their own very unique playstyle. The assassin was fast, flipped around like a ninja, slashing through enemies, knocking them down, or up into the air, unleashing a barrage of blows down onto them as you smash them back down into the ground.
Admittedly I wanted to try out the mage class but didn’t really want to go through the same content again so I just stuck with the one assassin I had.
Combat took place in dungeons, with each dungeon having 4 separate instanced off areas. They were very linear and didn’t provide much in the way of room to engage in combat, instead with each essentially functioning as a small circle that you’d run around and fight in.
This might change down the line, or might be very different in PvP or raids, I can’t say.

Every area was incredibly different to the last though – aesthetically, anyway. And each zone had their own unique selection of monsters to accompany it, finishing with a boss battle.
The bosses weren’t difficult, as if you time your dodges the time around the boss slows down significantly, allowing you to get some pretty good combos, or more than that, allowing you to unload an assault onto the boss without the need to worry about any kind of counter-attacks.
I’m not normally one to boast but I feel as though by the end of my time recording I’d gotten quite good at this.

And that’s it – that’s pretty much the game.
You take quests – missions from various NPCs. Hunt missions, loot missions. There are several different dungeons you can run per zone you’re in with each having their own unique enemies, quests and boss fights.
You level up, learn new abilities, equip new gear – which unfortunately does not change the appearance of your character. There were no customization options at all from what I could tell, honestly, which was kinda disappointing.
You explore the towns, you group up with other players, run dungeons, raids or PvP.
It’s about what you’d expect from a game like this. It’s absolutely gorgeous, but at the same time, it felt like it lacked anything to do long-term, but then these types of MMOs typically do.

Greetings and salutations my lovely little Bytelings, my name is Wiggy, and this is more of an update video rather than a news video.
So this a follow up to the Twilight Spirits gameplay video I did. If you haven’t watched that video, you can if you want, or I’ll just briefly explain it.

Twilight Spirits is a hyped up, newly released Action MMORPG. So like most games in general, they never live up to the hype, but in Twilight Spirits case, it wasn’t
just down to gameplay.

Twilight Spirits is riddled with errors, whether that’s from trying to install it, from updating it, to actually getting past the login screen.
I personally have encountered an error while trying to record our gameplay video for Twilight Spirits. While having errors or bugs isn’t necessarily
new to gaming as most MMORPGs, or games, have them, Twilight Spirits also suffers from latency issues and general lag. And of course the random complaint, that
it’s not in English.. although, I can agree that I’d want it in English, so I can actually understand what’s going on, it makes sense that it isn’t.
As it hasn’t been picked up by any western publisher, thus the reason it’s still in Chinese. And, at the rate it’s going, it may never be translated into English.

If you’re unaware, it’s currently available on Steam, now if you got to the Twilight Spirits page on Steam, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Out of the 803 reviews as of making this video, 528 of them are negative, with only 270, positive, and if you look closer at said positive reviews, they still
have the same concerns, AKA it’s a fun game, but it’d be a lot better without the latency issues, etc. Although, Surprisingly not one really complained about
the lack of character variation, so apparently that kind of thing only bothers me!
So generally the complaints were not around, poor features, or combat, so much as the complains were regarding, inability to play, connection issues and latency.

Although, due to all of this negative backlash the developers have apologized for the less than stellar launch, stating that they’re working on addressing these issues
and that there team is working on the following:

Fixing the default graphic’s settings.
Improving upon the guide, and general class/skill explanations in the tutorial section.
Allowing you to name your character with English letters.
And to Optimize the experience of players and reduce lag.

How long it’ll take for these changes to actually come to pass, remains to be seen.

So that’s generally what I wanted to inform you guys about, as I felt it was relevant information.
Although I would like to ask you guys, what you think? Can Twilight Spirits be fixed? Or What?

Either way guys, I hope you found this informative, even if it doesn’t have any good news. So good day, night or afternoon wherever it is where
you are, and I’ll see you guys in the next video!

Greetings and salutations my lovely little Bytelings, There sure has been a lot of MMO related news recently, am I right guys? From
Bless being dropped by Ariea games, Kingdom Under Fire II’s Official NA/EU launch date, to tons of MMORPGs/expansions coming out,
like Stormblood and Morrowind. It’s been pretty heck-tick, trying to keep you guys updated, which brings me to this video! I have some
more MMO news, this time it’s about Twilight Spirits.

If you’re not aware, Twilight spirits is a Chinese, Action MMORPG. being published by none other that NetEase.
So you’ve probably heard or seen something regarding it by now, if you check any kind of MMO News related websites or Youtube channels,
as its been floating around, and just generally being hyped up, as it’s the new flashy action MMORPG. We’re Not talking Ashes of
creation kinda hype, but it’s still hyped, nevertheless.

I have a more in depth video regarding Twilight Spirits’ features and what classes it has, etc. In another video, which you can find here:

The New Twilight Spirits MMORPG Looks Fantastic!

Alright so back to what I originally wanted to talk about, Twilight Spirits is finally entering its first “open beta”.
Which is awesome! Now, while it is in Chinese, as it doesn’t have an NA/EU release date yet which is a downer, I know. However
you can still take part in this open beta, as there are no region or IP locks, or really any kind of restrictions stopping
you from playing and enjoying Twilight Spirits. Its really very simple, the only thing you have to literally do, is register and download it,
then you’re good to go, and ready to play Twilight Spirits, in all its blood soaked glory.

Do remember that the official website and Twilight Spirits are in full Chinese so you will need to translate the website, through google, or really any other translating website.
or a phone app. Unless you can read Chinese, then you know.. you won’t need to translate it.

So yeah, its open Beta begins on the 29th of June. So better decide what classes you want to play, and start downloading it, ready for its
open beta launch! Oh I’m so exited!

Quick question to my fellow Bytelings, will you be taking part in Twilight Spirits closed beta?

Either way, good day night or afternoon wherever it is where you are and I MIGHT see you guys in the next video.. you see what I did there? yeah
I changed it up, hehe. It’s okay though.. I will be in the next video. I was just messing with you guys.

Hello Everyone, my name is Wiggy!

Today I’m going to be talking about Twilight Spirits!

Now if you haven’t been keeping up to date with Twilight Spirits, or you’ve never even heard about, it I’ll give you a run down of what’s “currently” known. Let’s get started shall we?

So Twilight Spirits is being published my NetEase. Sound familiar? Well it should, it’s the very same people behind Revelation online, another new highly anticipated MMORPG hitting the market in less than a week, which, BTW I can’t wait for.
Twilight Spirits is marketed as a MMORPG however it doesn’t really focus on the “RPG” side.
Allow me to elaborate.

Since its first CBT the devs behind Twilight Spirits have mentioned that combat is one of the main focuses behind the game so it goes without mention that it should be high quality, right?
But damn they do it right! With no tab targeting making it clunky like Revelation Online and gorgeous graphics, it’s not hard to see why this game is hyped.
However that’s not all, Twilight Spirits also features “Dragon Spirit Moment” which you’ll enter whenever you successfully dodge an attack.
While you’re in Dragon spirit moment everything will move in slow motion, like you’re the flash allowing you to deal mass damage to your foes, in styleee.
It’s nothing new or revolutionary, but it’s still a pretty cool feature.

While Twilight Spirits’ combat is far from disappointing, an unfortunate draw back, at least for me is that it’s a dungeon based MMORPG and not open world.
While some people may enjoy enclosed area’s that you repeat over and over until unlocking new areas or dungeons, I personally find that they can get quite repetitive.
While that may not necessarily be the case for Twilight Spirits, since the devs have stated that there are at least 60 dungeons to play through, I still find it disappointing.

Is it really too much to hope for an action MMORPG that’s open world? besides BDO? sigh.

Moving onto the classes! in the original CBT of Twilight Spirits there were only 4 classes, which isn’t a lot however the devs did promise to have 4 more classes by launch.
They have added 2 more classes, one being a Gunner and one a Healer, so it’s safe to assume the will be adding the other 2 classes.
I will point out that the classes are gender locked, which is quite limiting and completely unnecessary in my opinion. But alas Action MMORPGs do love their gender locked classes.

Twilight Spirits will also feature PvP like Guild v Guild and normal Arena combat, for all of you gladiators out there wanting to brawl, you’ve got a new MMO on the horizon to master!
I will point out that Dragon spirit moment is only usable in PvE content.

Twilight Spirits is entering it’s 3rd CBT as of March 7th, so if you’re interested in what Twilight Spirits has to offer don’t forget to check it out now before the 3rd CBT ends. There is no official word on whether or not Twilight Spirits will come to the west. So all we can only hope for now but with that being said, we’ll make sure to keep you informed if anything changes.
