V4: Endgame Review

My goal with my final look at V4 was to hit level 70 and finish Chapter 7. That was the most recent content at the time – until last night, when they released another brand new selection of content that I’m definitely not equipped for: Chapter 8.
You gotta give credit to the devs behind V4 – they’re consistent in their updates, and they update their game pretty frequently. They just finished adding in the Archer class last month – which admittedly was a solid class to level. And mine turned out super cute.

So my journey to what I perceived was the endgame at the time was an interesting one.
Mrs Stix and I have been slowly grinding through this game for a month and a half? 2 months by this point on both PC and our phones. We made sure to log in every day so we could obtain daily and weekly items from the store, could redeem our login rewards, you know the deal.
This allowed us to get quite a ways ahead of players that rushed through content, as by Chapter 7 – which is where I’m up to right now, I was already over 260,000 CP. Significantly over the recommended CP value, but this made it easier for me to push through content.
And while the grind was definitely real – having to at times murder 3, 4 sets of 60+ enemies totaling hundreds of monsters to make it to the next part of the Episode, it wasn’t without its danger.
An example was when I was out grinding Chapter 7 Episode 5. There I was minding my own business when another player ran up to me and began to attack me. I noticed my screen was flashing red so I took notice right away and fended them off. But it was moments like this that made certain I was always at my PC while grinding.
I’ve been killed by other players a multitude of times while out in the world and that sense of danger, of other players potentially attacking you because they want your spawn is always present.

Now before I go any further I do want to note that we’re now capable of purchasing outfits for our characters. I saw that there were 2 available currently, the Banquet Luminary and Triumphant Officer and you guys know which one I went for.. this was too good to pass up.
And the fact that it gave a boost to XP and max bag capacity was refreshing. Outfits are important to Mrs Stix. Probably the most important part of every MMO – no, every game. So being able to.. purtify herself is of the utmost importance.
Me? I just like the view.

There’s quite a bit to learn on the way to level 70 and the final Chapter. On the one hand, you should always be keeping an eye on your stats. Each zone has recommended CP that will make engaging enemies within it decidedly more difficult if you’re not careful.
Then there’s Imprinting. You have a selection of different Demon Stones that you can upgrade and equip Stones into to upgrade your CP and obtain beneficial stats.
You have a wide selection of both active combat skills and passive skills. As you can tell there are some skills I haven’t even unlocked yet – these are something that take time and motivation to unlock fully.
Talents are essentially an additive to your statistics and abilities. I’d reset my Talents to showcase the various talents you can choose and how they alter either your base stats or how your abilities function.
You have the Potential tab that allows you to sacrifice gear or items to improve one of 4 different floating.. glowy things that raise your base stats as well. I never knew what those actually were. Mrs Stix and I just call them “the floating jars.”
There’s gear enhancement in the game. You can upgrade your gear using enhancement scrolls, you can unlock additional stats by using tomes and even abilities.
Soulstones are probably one of the most important ways of gaining CP in the game. Every stone starts off incredibly weak but the further you upgrade them the more powerful they become. In the end, I think the majority of my CP came exclusively from them.
Collecting mounts increases your overall CP and goes a ways to provide additional boosts to your character like attack speed, defense and parry. You’re also capable of combining mounts together to attempt to obtain newer more powerful creatures.
The same applies to pets, however in their case they don’t provide as many beneficial stats. You can still combine them together, though!
Companions are the third and final collectible form of increasing your CP and provide much what mounts and pets do. You can combine them as well, but they’re also capable of being sent out on various types of missions with some pretty sweet rewards upon their return.
There are gathering and crafting professions in-game but if you know me.. you’d know I typically tend to avoid these in games. I prefer to pay people to craft my stuff for me.
As you continue to fight monsters out within the world you’ll find that you can “research” the enemies in question and obtain CP the more you eliminate.
Then there’s the Abyss – which is pretty much where I went to farm all of my Soul Shards to upgrade my Soulstones. Well, that and tons of juicy Gold.
Admittedly, while I did do the Demon invasions a couple times that was more something that Mrs Stix did frequently. We fought a couple boss monsters as well, but always found ourselves logging in too late to really chase them down.
There’s Lunatra which is a large-scale PvPvE game mode – a lot goes on in there. It’s a scary place.

And.. if you make use of the Item Sets feature, you’ll find you’re increasing in CP pretty steadily.
I made use of every single feature I listed above to get all the way to where I am right now, which is almost 270,000 CP. The journey was long, the grind was more than difficult but I found it to definitely be rewarding enough.
Progressing through Chapter 7 was made substantially easier being at the CP we were at and I don’t think that would’ve been possible at the CP we were at when we started Chapter 7, which was maybe 110k CP. I died repeatedly. It really wasn’t a very flattering state for me to be in.

V4 is a long game. It’s not easy to get through but it shouldn’t be. Yes, I made it to level 71-ish by the time I finished and decided to create my final look on the game and yes I’ll definitely continue playing after this to try and clear Chapter 8.
I’ve invested this much time into the game, what’s a little more, right?
Grinding through all of these unique zones, all of the story, learning all of these new features and being a part of each update as they came out was definitely an experience.
It was fun watching my character grow into such a power house, and I’m glad I chose the class I chose. I still regret not going Mage, but what can ya do.

V4's New Archer Class is Pretty Fun!

The new V4 MMORPG recently rolled out their latest update not long ago that included the brand new Archer class.
Mrs Stix and I have been hard at work on the way towards the end of Chapter 7 – making steady progress towards level 70 and just hitting over 220,000 combat power – when we were reached out to to take a sponsored look at how the class plays.
Obviously I was going to jump at that opportunity. I’m literally being paid to try out the new class in a game I’m already actively dedicating time to and playing through off-stream and off-video. Would you turn that down? I didn’t think so!

So, yes there were already 6 classes present in-game. The Enchantress, Warlord, Slayer, Knight, Gunslinger, Boomblade and then the newest addition: The Archer.
My main is the Gunslinger while Mrs Stix is playing the Archer so it didn’t require much to acclimate to another ranged DPS’ combat style.
First things first, as I mentioned the very first time I saw V4 the character creator provides a lot of creative freedom over your character.
You can edit – to quite a degree, I might add, your characters face – every facet of their face, and the important aspects of your characters body.
I attempted something much different to my original character. My Gunslinger looked.. more mature? I think. Angrier with the world. While my opinion might be a little up for debate, I feel as though my Archer turned out.. cuter? Not prettier, but cuter.

I guess you’ll have to let me know what you guys think as my opinion is obviously quite subjective! I think she turned out great.

Then back into the game I went!
I opted to disregard the first 40-ish levels of the game as I figured I’ve covered that in the past – and let’s be real here – I’m sure you guys are going to want a closer look at later-game content anyway, right?
Early-level grinding is very different to late-level grinding. Your abilities are significantly different – heck, your character overall is likely to be substantially different.
I’ve not played an MMO where my character at level 10 is the same at level 50.
Thankfully the Archer plays very fast. Her attacks are rapid – and at least for the first 50 or so levels she was an agile, dangerous single-target DPS.
After hitting level 50 and gaining access to new skills and skill effects I opted to alter my playstyle, as I’ve always been of the opinion that if you can tank 20 monsters and mow them all down in a single AoE.. then go for it.
It’s faster and much more efficient. So I went about turning myself into an AoE killing machine, boosting my damage, altering my single-target abilities into AoEs and things got substantially easier.
I could go into the Abyss and begin grinding – taking down enemies faster than ever, which allowed for me to grind additional Soul Shards to upgrade the Soul Stones in my gear, increasing my Combat Power further.
I actually made it to almost 80,000 by the time I was done recording, which was ridiculous.

Honestly, if you’re looking to play the game for the first time then I feel as though this is the ideal time to – there’s a 14-day check-in event going on right now for players to take part in that provides quite a few goodies each day.
Pets, Mounts, Companions, Soul Stones, Demon Stones. If I couple that with the Rookie Captain’s Intensive Training event, not only can I power myself up to a degree I wish I could have when I first began the game, but.. well, I mean in the grand scheme of things that’s what’s most important, right?
Legit, I felt like a god the entire time playing as an Archer. Partly because the events provided some ridiculously good gear, and partly because the Archer itself is a pretty powerful new class.

I wasn’t aware that V4 was going to introduce additional classes into the game, especially considering the PC version of V4 only went live several months ago, but I am pleasantly surprised.
I hope in the future they continue to push out regular updates and provide players new and exciting reasons to continue playing – new classes are definitely a reason to.

I would’ve liked to have kept playing the Archer to see how it functions at level 70 but we’re about to hit level 70 on our Gunslinger and Boomblade, then we’ll have a final look at the game – hopefully having come close to finishing the main story in Chapter 7.

Taking a Deeper Look at Nexon's New V4 MMORPG

It’s been a month since I last looked at V4. Since then a lot has changed – and today I’m going to take a much deeper look at it, along with one of its newest features: The Halidom Rush, a brand new PvPvE game mode.
Mrs Stix and I leveled all the way to – by the end of things – level 65, which took quite a bit of time to achieve, let me tell you!
We sat through endless amounts of story, fought a plethora of different monsters and upgraded our characters constantly to make it this far. Yes, we were dedicated.

So.. Let’s start this off with a little info regarding the game first.
V4 is a cross-platform MMORPG that released globally a few months ago. It features quite the extensive character creator, has a deep story and is built on Unreal Engine 4.
While on the way to level 65 we had the opportunity to participate in quite a few different activities.
One in specific was the world bosses that seem to spawn every evening. These bosses spawn at a random point in the region, having groups of players waiting 20, 30 minutes ahead of time to kill it.
We got to fight a few – but only captured footage of our fight against Ruskal unfortunately. Nevertheless, it was a giant purple dragon that ended up absolutely demolished by what seemed like more people than I’d ever seen in the game before.
Thankfully Mrs Stix and I are pros at this game by now, so we managed to survive rather unscathed for the most part, even considering the fact that we were under the recommended Combat Power.
I feel like adding these region bosses to each zone provides incentive for players to go back between both higher and lower level zones, increasing the interaction between players of all levels and stages through the game.

Then we finally decided to jump into Lunatra, the PvPvE game mode.
The first time we entered we were only level 30 something and didn’t really have much if any idea what we were doing. We gathered that we could engage other players in combat, but wanted to do the PvE activities mostly.
Purely because we were scared of the level 70 players potentially 1-shotting us.
But after we had gotten into our mid-60s, we opted to jump back into Lunatra as that was how you access the new Halidom Rush PvP mode.
Initially we were attempting to complete the PvE missions that were scattered around the Ruinous Volcano, after which we thought it was time to finally dip our toes into the PvP.. which did not end well for us.

Halidom Rush is only open and available to participate in on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between 9PM and 10PM Pacific, or 12AM and 1AM Eastern – which is when we entered.
Yup, we stayed up until Midnight to make sure we could get into Lunatra and participate in it for the first time.
Halidom Rush is kind of like a capture the flag mode – having players grab a flag from the enemy base and bring it to the area located on the map while avoiding getting murdered from the opposing players.
I wasn’t aware of the specifics when I’d entered, so I wandered into an enemy camp, grabbed the flag, and just started running a direction thinking that the players around me were on my team.
Little did I know.. that was the opposite of what was going on, and they ganked me. Repeatedly. Yup. You could say that I was a bit of a glutton for punishment as I’d attempted it at least 4 times, and Mrs Stix twice I think before finally admitting defeat.
It’s an interesting game mode for sure, and I can see how it can be a lotta fun to participate in. I guess my only issue was that I wasn’t level 70 and was severely undergeared, preventing me from lasting longer than a brief moment against each enemy.

There’s a lot we still have left to do in V4. We’re on the way to endgame, and that requires quite a bit of upgrading, a lot of leveling and more of the main story to complete.
And let me tell you, there are a substantial number of ways to go about upgrading.
Pets give you CP, Mounts provide CP, Companions increase your CP, you can raise your CP through Imprinting, through equipping and upgrading your Soulstones, through Researching enemies, equipping new gear, enhancing your gear..
The number of ways to go about improving your character feel almost endless at times, which means you’ll have a variety of different means to work with and towards.

We’ll be doing a final follow-up to this video once we hit level 70 and get to endgame. I know some people wanted us to do a more detailed follow-up in the future so you guys can definitely look forward to it!

Tackling V4's Co-Op Content

V4 is a brand new MMORPG that just released onto PC recently. I’d covered my first impressions of the game, but at the time I’d tackled the game from a solo-player perspective. Today we’ll be doing things slightly different: Today, I had Mrs Stix log into the game, create a character and participate in my journey with me.
I rolled Enchantress the first time because she’s just so gorgeous – and the customization for the Enchantress is by far the most extensive in my opinion, but this time I wanted to try something different so opted for Gunslinger while Mrs Stix went Boomblade.
We both ended up looking pretty damn adorable if I do say so myself.

Let’s start this off by stating that I’m not traditionally a fan of archer-type classes in MMOs. I love pew-pewing enemies with fireballs, lightning bolts, you know, traditionally what mages utilize to eliminate foes.
But the Gunslinger was admittedly – and I don’t say this lightly – kinda fun to level as. There are abilities for both the Boomblade and Gunslinger that I wish other games made use of and as I pointed out the first time ’round, everything looks really good. Skills, combat animations.
I really wanted to progress far enough to jump into the PvP section of the game, but at the same time, Mrs Stix and I are looking to do a multi-part look at V4 and so with that in mind, I figured part 2, our follow-up will feature the PvP and other content we couldn’t make it to today.

The two of us opted to join a guild this time ’round as well. Granted, we chose different guilds as we had a.. difference of opinion on which guild name sounded better, but this should provide us the opportunity to investigate additional forms of content.
More specifically, guild dungeons. Yes, there are dungeons specific to Guilds that you can only participate in AS a guild, and as such, we figured being in 2 different guilds would perhaps give us twice the chance to actually participate in one. If not, we’ll likely end up creating our own.
I’ve always wanted to be a guild leader and I think I have what it takes to run a successful one – to conquer my enemies.

While Mrs Stix and I for the most part went about progressing the story, making it half way through Chapter 3, we managed to do it together. Aside from story-specific quests, the vast majority of what we could do was possible to complete as a group.
I’ve always found it confusing when MMOs – mobile MMOs in specific limit the cooperative play between players. If we want to play together, then let us! That’s part of being an MMO after all, right?
One thing in specific we opted to do was enter the Abyss. This is a game mode that imposes a time limit and objective to complete, in its own, separate instance with a limit on players allowed within at any given time.
We went with Knight’s Regret I as that’s all we had unlocked at present, and our Combat Power was far too low to tackle anything else. It required we enter, and within 2 hours, eliminate 90 monsters. An easy feat for someone as powerful as me. And.. you know, Mrs Stix helped, too, of course.
The Abyss gets progressively more difficult the higher the instance you opt to enter, and as such grouping up with other players to complete the content – while not a requirement – will make things significantly easier.

There have been multiple updates to the game since its release, with additional updates slated to roll out in the near future bringing plenty of content for players to log in and consume. Content I’m sure fans of the game will definitely appreciate!
V4 is a large, open-world cross-platform MMORPG that utilizes very smooth, very flashy combat, has some really great looking visuals, character creation options – yeah, don’t get me started on the character customization.
I covered it in my first video, and.. man the kinda characters you can create in this game are fantastic. There’s a lot to do, there’s a lot of content to make your way through, and there’s so much more to come.

We made it to the end of Chapter 3 today, and I’m hoping in our follow-up we make it through to the end of Chapter 6, maybe Chapter 7 and get to show you more in the way of PvE and PvP, as I’m sure you’re all curious of how that facet of the game is implemented.

Nexon Announces 2 New Games - 1 New Upcoming MMORPG

Everyone knows Nexon, right? They shut down their Calirofnia studio earlier this year, shut down MapleStory 2, shut down Peria Chronicles, gave up publishing rights to Dragon Nest, Riders of Icarus and Dungeon Fighter Online.
Yeah, that Nexon. The Nexon that outside of MapleStory, Mabinogi and Vindictus, have shut down pretty much every title they’ve released up until this point.
Well, boy do I have exciting news for you guys! They just announced we’re getting a brand new MMORPG – yup, they’re working on another new title to release after their recent V4 launch onto PC.

And no, the new MMO isn’t Project BBQ. They’re still supposedly working on Project BBQ with devCat apparently still hard at work on getting the game ready for a 2020 test phase.
This is an entirely new project. Well, one of two upcoming projects.

This project in specific, which let me preface this entire conversation with the fact that it actually has no confirmed title yet, not even the common “Project random letter” that South Korean MMO developers seem so fond of, is being built using Unreal Engine 4.
Gone are the days when we were forced to play games using Unreal Engine 3 – wait, no, nevermind. The upcoming Elyon MMORPG is being built with Unreal Engine 3, still. Whoops!

Nexon’s goal with this is to develop a “AAA-class masterpiece that can satisfy users in all aspects such as content and visuals.”
Alright, now hear me out. Peria Chronicles was the best looking upcoming Anime MMO I’d ever seen, and it provided the opportunity for almost endless content. However one thing that players complained about during the test phase was its combat.
Combat is an integral part of what makes an MMORPG playable for a lot of players. If the combat isn’t engaging, if it doesn’t hold your attention, you’re going to rapidly grow tired of it and stop playing.
This happens quite often during the early leveling periods in Final Fantasy XIV and The Elder Scrolls Online. Combat is slow, and people get bored, so they come to the false conclusion that the combat is going to remain that way indefinitely, and cease their progression through the game.
Nexon have noted that they aren’t at all focused on combat, and are instead working on creating a “pretty game.” If there’s one thing we know about South Korean MMOs, it’s that they’re always damn good to look at. But that’s about as far as they ever make it, right?
I think Black Desert might be the last MMO that actually had a good combat system from a South Korean developer.

Another example of this is both the upcoming Elyon and New World MMOs.
Elyon’s tab-target was so poorly received that KRAFTON, the developers, had to completely overhaul the combat system and make it complete action-oriented, allowing players to freely aim without the need for a target.
And New World is considered by many – not all, but quite a few players to have a terribly slow, clunky and ultimately poor combat system for an action MMORPG.
Combat matters, Nexon. Gameplay is an important facet of every game so you might not wanna ignore it.

We know a bit about the upcoming MMO thus far, as they’ve released small bits of information. For starters, the game is going to be set in a medieval fantasy world with magic, castles, forts and other building types.
It’s going to have a completely seamless open world just like Black Desert, which means that there won’t be a single loading screen found anywhere throughout the game world, with everywhere being easily accessible and interconnected.
There is going to be cross-compatibility between PC and mobile – however, before you guys jump to the conclusion that this is going to be a mobile game, do note that they are creating this with PC players in mind.
This means that yes, you’ll definitely be capable of playing the game on your mobile device as well, but mobile devices are hopefully going to be a secondary thought as opposed to their main focus.
And let’s be honest, if they want this to be successful – to start a brand new MMORPG IP that PC players will be interested in, they’re going to need to cater to us a little more.

Finally, the upcoming game is going to have an isometric point of view, meaning it’s going to play like Lost Ark, TL: Origin, Path of Exile and Diablo if what I gathered is to be believed.
This is an interesting route to take as I don’t see many successful MMOs utilizing that graphical style, honestly. Maybe there’s a reason for that!

Regardless, they’re working on another title, “Project HP” as well, but nothing is currently known about that game other than it has the same medieval fantasy setting.
I’m always excited to hear that new MMORPGs are being developed – the market always needs new titles to compete with one another, but considering this is Nexon… I dunno. I guess we’ll need to wait and see.

V4 is a Brand New Cross-Platform MMORPG from Nexon

A lot of people have been anticipating this game, so much so that the day after launching – the day I chose to record, there was a queue of 800 players waiting to log in on the 4th server – the fourth!
But I mean let’s be real here, if you can make a character that looks as good as the character I made.. it stands to reason as to why. Right? And there are multiple classes that look this good available to choose from!
Well, maybe not that good. I created that all on my own after all.

Now let’s talk about the game. There are 6 classes you can choose from: Warlord, Slayer, Knight, Gunslinger, Boomblade and Enchantress. If you know me – which you guys should by now – you’ll know that naturally I was going for Enchantress.
Not only does she look absolutely incredible, but.. she’s a freakin’ mage. I get to explode people and fly around on my stave. What other reason could I possibly need to roll her?
Character creation is very, very good. I was a little surprised by the amount of customization options I had over my character – I created my typical light-haired blue-eyed beauty as I always do. And she turned out incredibly.
One thing worth noting is that you have control over everything. Yes, her head size, facial structure, and the most important assets as well, obviously. Yup. You’re welcome for that.

After creating your character, you’re greeted by a pretty sick opening cinematic where you’re introduced to the main cast of characters as your group goes up against a giant dragon.
And then bam, you’re in-game. And my god if my character isn’t the most adorable character you’ve ever seen. Right? Right?

Oh, also while we’re zoomed into my character, I would like to note that gear you obtain in-game actually changes the physical appearance of your character. Meaning that all new gear has its own unique visual appearance.
This is something that I appreciate having in games as I’m of the opinion that when you obtain gear, it should look different. Otherwise what’s the point? Y’know?

As I mentioned earlier, V4 is a fully cross-platform MMORPG. It just launched on to PC – and that is what I played the game on. But at the same time the game launched simultaneously on Mobile devices as well, allowing players to choose their platform of choice.
This is the direction I feel the genre is currently moving: We’re getting more and more cross-platform compatible MMOs as time moves forward.
Thankfully, from what I played through, V4 has quite an emphasis on story – and you guys know I love story in my games. They’re the driving force behind me maintaining interest in them. If the story sucks, or if there’s a lack of story, then I won’t be entertained, and I’ll stop playing.
So seeing V4 put such a large emphasis on story was promising. The characters from the intro cinematic held importance to the story, and each of them would appear throughout the story as it continued to unfold.

Combat is an interesting blend of auto-target and action combat. Regardless of which you prefer, it’s worth noting that V4 has some incredibly flashy spell effects. I only played through the Enchantress, and as such my experience is exclusively limited to her, but I had flaming tornadoes, glacial ruptures in the ground.
Not just that, but after accumulating enough of the resource, you can actually enter this incredibly powerful, badass looking Demon Hunter form that not only buffs your statistics, but also provides you with new abilities, making you an unstoppable killing machine.

The areas you find in-game though are actually pretty beautiful, honestly. I’m not gonna lie, I hadn’t played V4 on mobile prior to their launch onto PC but even if I had, I wouldn’t have expected it to end up looking visually as good as it ultimately ended up looking.
Color me impressed. The rivers, the forests, the mountains. The environments were much larger than I had anticipated and not at all linear.

Interestingly, during story-scenarios your team would accompany you into battle. This is a very unique feature, something I hadn’t experienced before. And honestly it was pretty cool.
The characters I had spent recruiting over the first few hours of the game had a purpose.

Although I didn’t get to experience it due to wanting to get this video out as soon as I could, I would like to note that V4 is a PvPvE game. Or, it is within certain zones. While the core of the game is PvE oriented, and there are PvP modes, one specific zone, Lunatra allows for players to openly engage in PvPvE content.
You’ll be out in the field, fighting monsters, fighting other players, and tackling large-scale bosses that take hundreds of players to take down due to the sheer difficulty.

There’s a lot to do in V4. There are a lot of options that have varying impacts on your stats, on your abilities. Upgrading via the Workshop, Imprinting, the Potential feature. Gear. It’s a lot of micromanaging, but it provides a plethora of things to do, and that’s never a bad thing.
Ultimately, I feel as though V4 is a pretty good port of a Mobile MMORPG on PC. I played through the entirety of today, taking my time with the game as opposed to rushing things.
V4 is a fully cross-platform compatible MMORPG, allowing players to toggle auto-pathing and auto-combat, but from what I’ve seen in my experience, auto-combat will probably get you killed during boss encounters as it requires responsive reactions to events that are going on.
Graphically, it looks pretty damn good for a game built on Mobile first and then ported over to PC. Better than plenty of titles available on PC right now. These graphics were definitely not something I was expecting.

V4, Nexon's Latest MMORPG Gets Global Announcement

So I just received Nexon’s recent Press Release concerning their upcoming cross-platform MMORPG, V4, formerly known as Project V4.

According to Nexon, V4, which in their own words is a “gorgeous fantasy MMORPG” is set to launch onto Android and iOS devices globally this year. They gave the time frame as “the second half of 2020,” which honestly.. is any time after this month until the final day of December. While we never had confirmation that V4 would be releasing this year, it’s worth noting that while we do in fact now have that confirmation, it is purposely vague.
The email went on to boast that V4 had “groundbreaking visuals,” implemented through Unreal Engine 4. Which, honestly, yeah, the graphics are definitely very, very high quality, but in no way are they “next generation” or “groundbreaking.” Supposedly, it also features “unprecedented cross-play” between mobile and PC players.. which once again, has been done already. The game will feature inter-server play, lots of co-operative features and large, 100-player boss battles in the open world.

Project V4, Nexon's Brand New Mobile MMORPG is Launching on to PC

Alright, so this was actually announced back in November. I’ve been meaning to talk about it honestly, but I kept forgetting about it.
Every time I went to write something up another game would have some big announcement that would deter me from posting about it at that moment. No more! I don’t think I’ve actually ever even talked about V4 – so I guess this’ll be something new for all you guys.

Let’s get this outta the way first: V4 or Project V4 is an upcoming Mobile MMORPG developed by NAT Games and being published by Nexon. I know, I know. The name Nexon is enough to almost make you throw up in your mouth a little bit.
NAT Games, though, are the developers behind HIT and Overhit, 2 games that are also published by Nexon.
So at the very least, they have a decent track record with regards to making popular, successful games, depending how you look at their list of published games thus far.
V4 is being built on Unreal Engine 4, has a variety of classes – as pretty much every MMORPG does, and.. well, yeah. I don’t think there’s really a need to delve into what kind of features the game brings because it’s a pretty basic MMO.

The game world looks beautiful, the characters and character models are about what you’d expect from a South Korean Mobile MMO.
The world itself is open with some areas being PvEvP – allowing for players to do battle with one another while trying to accomplish whatever objectives the map brings.
One laughable statement NAT made was that the game will have very “dense” maps, replicating the feel of a “PC MMORPG” on Mobile Devices. Like, I’m gonna be real here.. there is no Mobile MMO that has the feel of a PC MMO.
Not even Black Desert Mobile feels like a PC MMO. These South Korean game devs always making these grandiose statements about how they’re bringing PC MMOs to Mobile devices is just asinine at this point.
Just be honest: It’s a Mobile MMO that looks and plays like a Mobile MMO. It might be better than their last game, for sure, but it is not going to compare to a PC game. Not for a while.

But it doesn’t have to be – Mobile MMOs are different, they appeal to a different market, a different generation of gamer. They don’t have to constantly try to be something they’re not.
They just have to keep improving until they get something that is truly great. Something that is really enjoyable.
Which actually leads me to the point of this entire discussion.. Nexon have announced that they are going to be launching the game onto PC as well. Yes, a game designed exclusively for Mobile devices is going to be ported over to PC.
See, where games like Gran Saga and Genshin Impact were designed with the intention of releasing cross-platform, and NCSoft are launching their Purple Platform to emulate Mobile games on PC natively, Nexon are just.. directly porting the game over.
This is Nexon for you. Instead of providing a better experience for PC gamers, instead we’re going to receive a cheap port.

I’m all for cross-platform games. I think they’re probably the future at this point.
What I dislike is the fact that companies – certain companies like Nexon are putting absolutely no effort into constructing, designing a game that is built for more than Mobile devices.
